Full Cronus Zen Setup

This guide takes you from a boxed Cronus Zen to playing with your Elite Cronus script. Follow the written steps below, or watch the full video walkthrough at the bottom.

1Update your firmware

Cronus recommends updating firmware before anything else. The fastest way is their official web tool, no install needed:

1. Hold down the small blue button on the back of the Zen while connecting it to your PC through the CONSOLE/PC USB port.
2. Let go when the OLED screen shows Zen Bootloader and the LEDs glow purple and blue.
3. On your PC, open cronus.support/fw in Chrome or Edge.
4. Click connect, pick Cronus Zen in the popup, and hit the Latest firmware button.
5. The tool shows "Programming device, please wait". It takes under 20 seconds. When the LEDs flash red, green and blue and the Gear Head logo appears, you're updated.

2Open Zen Studio LIVE

Zen Studio LIVE is the browser-based version of Zen Studio, so there is nothing to download and it runs on any laptop or PC.

1. Open Zen Studio LIVE in Chrome or Edge.
2. Connect the Zen to your computer using the PROG USB port (the small port on the back), then click connect when the browser asks which device to use.
3. Once it's connected, Zen Studio LIVE shows your Zen and its memory slots, ready to load a script.

3Load your Elite Cronus script

After purchase you download your script through our customer portal, along with further instructions for your setup. Open the script in Zen Studio LIVE and program it to one of the memory slots, where it stays permanently.

4Connect to your console and play

1. Plug the Zen's CONSOLE/PC port into your console's USB port.
2. Plug your controller into the Zen's A1 port with a data-capable USB cable.
3. Use the buttons on the Zen to select your memory slot. The script name shows on the OLED screen.
